At Anchor House we follow an evidenced based model that approaches recovery from all sides. We operate in a trauma informed environment, which provides a holistic approach to substance abuse treatment. We offer many therapeutic interventions and groups that are tailored to identify reasons for substance abuse and ways to remain in recovery after completion of the program. Our curriculum is designed using a phase model which allows each resident to move forward at the healthiest pace for them. In addition to individual weekly clinical sessions we offer many on–site groups, workshops and work groups. In concurrence with our clinical services we offer a vast array of nonclinical and spiritual groups, workshops and workgroups. Our goal is intended to provoke change and healing. Listed below are some of the topics covered in our curriculum.

  • Trauma
  • Life Skills
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Anger Management
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Stress Management
  • Parenting
  • Vocational Preparation

Psychotherapy
Our licensed staff uses a wide range of evidence based practices that are gender specific. Anchor house is sensitive to the unique needs of our clients and therefore maintain a wide resource pool. Our referral sources include but are not limited to areas such as sexual addiction, eating disorders, sexual abuse and more. Our discharge planning process encourages a continuum of care that assist the client long after graduating the program.

Domestic Violence
Regardless of age, race or gender, Domestic Violence affects everyone. We provide a safe space for survivors and batterers to receive services that facilitate healing. These services include counseling, workshops and support groups.

Family Support
Our program is designed so that families and loved ones can directly participate in their loved ones path to sobriety. Ranging from workshops to special activities, we value every moment shared between our clients and the special people in their lives. We believe that by restoring family relationships will build stronger families and communities.

Spirituality
Anchor House is a place where treatment and spirituality unite through a soul sabbatical experience. According to the United States NCBI activities in music therapy are associated with a decrease in anxiety, depression, anger, and stress. Just like art therapy, it is thought to help clients tap into emotions and needs that may be difficult to express through more traditional forms of communication. Furthermore, music therapy also provides a way to motivate clients to receive treatment. Our coed choir is a source of emotional and spiritual release through music. NCBI

Community Service
Community service is an essential part of our curriculum. Our clients are encouraged to give back to the community as part of job readiness preparation. We partner with various organizations to aid our clients in becoming active and productive members of their communities.

Mentoring
The mentoring program is quite distinctive as our volunteers are greatly engaged with their Mentee. As part of our program, our clients are paired with volunteers that agree to weekly calls, outings, fellowships and on-site events. By establishing healthy and professional relationships, we pave the road to excellent leadership.

Alumni
Our alumni’s are the heart of our community. We encourage our graduates to visit their fellow “Anchormen and Anchorettes” to continue an established support system and possibly become a mentor. Our Alumni are known for their great leadership qualities as some have often returned to lead peer groups, sit in on community meetings and even participate in on-site events. By having our Alumni participate in all of our activities, we ensure that both our Alumni and residents feel accepted and included.

After Care
Anchor House believes the discharge planning process begins at admission. Each client requires a tailored support system and we build that plan and network during each phase of the treatment process. The aftercare curriculum includes but is not limited to Outpatient services, sober and spiritual support network and other individualized needs. Alumni will always be encouraged to keep in touch as they journey through their new life after treatment.
